The first PC game for Kinect!

From what I can tell, the first PC game for Kinect that is NOT a hack, will have a demo available to download on March 7th. Although it a tech demo, there is potential it will become a full fledged game. It’s titled Zombie Holdout by an Indie developer named Pixel Ninja. I’m not sure if they have released anything yet as the company has little details publicly known, but this could be their first entry into the gaming world.

Zombie Holdout

Built using OpenNI and Unity, the demo features a lone survivor fighting off hordes of zombies with a pair of pistols. Both hands aim independently and this could be a take on what Gunstringer and future Kinect rail shooters will function like. If this demo proves successful, it could possibly be picked up and brought to Xbox Live.

Pixel Ninja will release a downloadable version of the Zombie Holdout Kinect demo on March 7 for PC. In the meantime, you can see a preview of it:

I have kinect for xbox 360, but can i play games with xbox 360 kinect on pc? Can I setup this kinect on PC? Thanks.

Yes, the same Kinect. You need to download drivers etc, but you don’t need to buy anything in addition to your Kinect in terms of hardware .

is he even doing anything while playing?. It just looks like he is just standing there perfectly still with his hands in a “held up” position the whole time. (Demos like this is why i got 2 moves and a nav for my ps3 but havent bothered to get a kinect for my 360.)

It is later explained that in the first part of this video the depth image is disabled because the game runs pretty slow while it is enabled.

The later part of the video shows the game while this feature is enabled, and you can clearly see the ‘green man’ move.

Did you even listen to the video? This is just some basic tech demo he put together and it’s NOT the main game he’s working on. Funny how you say videos like this are why you haven’t got a Kinect (I bet you don’t even have an Xbox 360) yet there have been loads of videos of Kinect projects that do far more than shown here. (Even if just technically speaking.) How many videos have there been of “Move hacks” projects? And of course there’s the actual games currently available for Kinect. You know, the games that include 10 games that have sold over 300,000 and out of those 5 have sold over 700,000 and out of those 2 have sold over 1,750,000 and the best selling game (not counting Kinect Adventures as that comes with Kinect) has sold over 2,700,000! Just the top 10 games have sold around 9 million altogether! How many Move games (where Move is required, so for example Killzone 2 & 3 don’t count) have sold over 2,700,000? Hell, how many Move games have even sold over 300,000? LOL!!! If Move specific games don’t sell well then companies are less likely to make Move specific games, so you may end up just using your Move wand to aim in games like Killzone 3 rather than having lots of dedicated games like Kinect will have. Just look at the Kinect version of Michael Jackson: The Experience, that’s only possible with Kinect and the Move version is most likely just going to be a port of the Wii version.
