I'll have a review up probably this weekend, unfortunately I agree with you Darth - not sure what happened but this one seemed to go backwards in my opinion.

I don't have a elaborate video setup so the best I can do is game capture Tongue

Exclamation RE: Kinect Sports Rivals
IMPORTANT! After installing Kinect Sports Rivals your Kinect 2 might not work properly, even if you think it's OK it's probably best to do a hard reset (hold down power button for 10 seconds, wait then push it again to switch the Xbox One back on, or go to SETTINGS, SYSTEM then RESTART or if you think you need to then switch off the Xbox One, unplug it and Kinect 2 for 10 seconds then plug everything back in and switch it back on) then re-calibrate Kinect 2 again (both tracking and audio calibration). Remember to turn the volume up loud during the audio calibration. That should fix any Kinect 2 issues.

Another thing to remember is to keep absolutely still while being scanned in the Champion Creator, especially while your face is being scanned where you also have to keep a plain expression. Some people have complained that their Champion looks nothing like them but I have seen videos in the past where people have been talking during the face scanning or doing a big "cheese!" smile or making funny faces. DO NOT DO THAT! As that can (and probably will) cause innacurate scanning.

Also Kinect Sports Rivals needs more space than other Kinect 2 games, for at least some events you really should be at least 6ft away from Kinect 2 (and it should be up high, around 6ft but no higher), people have complained about this and said "I thought Kinect 2 is supposed to need less space" but if this were on Kinect 1 you would probably have to be at least 7ft away from the sensor if not further so it is better.

Also Kinect Sports Rivals is so far an anomaly due to how much you have to move around and stretch your limbs, like for Climbing Kinect 2 needs to not only see your arms sometimes stretched to full length above your head but also to see your hands open and close while they're that far above your head. All other Kinect 2 games announced so far don't need you moving and stretching to those extremes so they work fine a lot closer. In fact some of the games announced so far, like D4, can even be played sitting down so I wouldn't worry about needing a lot of space for other Kinect 2 games in the future.

Question RE: Kinect Sports Rivals
Does anybody know why the music is totally screwed up during the menus and Island screen and has anyone been able to fix it? Also the voice commands during the menus have stopped working properly. Sad (Just Kinect Sports Rivals' menus, the Xbox One dashboard is still fine after doing that hard restart and re-calibration.)

Exclamation RE: Kinect Sports Rivals
I've found another issue, which is that Climbing will be an issue for people around 6ft or higher with low ceilings. My ceiling is 7.5ft and I can touch it with my fingetips if I stretch my arm up fully and Climbing said that I had to move back (which didn't work) or adjust Kinect 2. After a bit of trial & error of adjusting it slightly I finally got it working, although the warning still occasionally pops up but then goes again.

So if you're around 6ft or higher and have a ceiling any lower than 7.5ft then it's unlikely that you'll be able to play Climbing. It will probably work if you're shorter though, basically if you stretch your arm right up and you can't touch your ceiling or can only just touch it with your fingertips then it should work. You do of course have to be far enough away from Kinect 2 so it can see your whole body as well.

A tip for Target Shooting if it's jittery for you, don't wave your arm about all over the place to aim, just pretend you're actually holding and aiming a gun (rather than moving a cursor like you would on a menu screen) and mostly move your wrist and only move your arm a little if your wrist movement doesn't move the cursor far enough. That should eliminate any jitters and it should be as smooth as silk.

Kinect 2 is tracking the angle of your arm/hand/fingers as if you were actually aiming a gun rather than just tracking the end of your fingers on a 2D plane. (I say fingers just because I find it more comfortable to make a gun shape with 2 fingers sticking out rather than 1.)

Champion Creator tip, if you're youthful looking select "Junior" when creating your Champion as you'll get an even better likeness and it doesn't actually turn your Champion into a child or even a teenager. (Unless you actually look like a teenager despite being older, in which case it might, lol!) Here's my Champion which was created with "Junior" selected:

RE: Kinect Sports Rivals
Thanks for posting the tips CorellianRogue! Also yeah I'm sorry to hear that you don't like it much either TheZeeMan.

I have to say the more I play it, the more I like it but like CorellianRogue said with the playspace (vertical playspace mainly) with rock climbing, it takes a bit to get everything the way Kinect wants. Once I mounted it on top of my TV (and to be fair that's where the original Kinect was) and recalibrated it, I didn't have any issues with controls. Pretty much from here on it, any mistakes are on me!

I do though still feel the same way with the glaring design issues. I wish there was more content (I loved the minigames) and no random online play (outside of the cloud - avatar AI system) is a bit of a letdown.

I at least though enjoy playing all of the sports and have gotten more playtime than I expected out of it. All in all, there aren't really any better Kinect 2.0 games right now (that I know of) so I guess I won't complain too much. Hopefully in a year or two this game has a lot more content from DLC (free please!?) and we have some other games that we can consider flagship Kinect 2.0 games.

You're welcome! Big Grin I reckon they're going to release a lot of DLC over time that will build up the Island, including more sports so they won't actually release sequels (or at least not anytime soon) but rather have an ever-evolving game. My guess is that the some DLC (minigames for each sport for example) will be free whereas each new sport will cost a small fee, like £5 maybe.

RE: Kinect Sports Rivals
(note not advertising)

I got this today through post via Game and I have to say OMG there is such a huge difference I wonder why in today's flat tv age Microsoft did not bundle something like this with it.

Now first a bit about me. I am 6"2 and fat.

so playing with kinect under tv was a pain. It didnt read above my head however Now with clip it reads above my head and my floor

some kinect games it works with out like rabbids (mostly) But kinect sports I need this! so 6ft+ fat people of the world. Buy this clip. simple to hook up and increases enjoyment Smile

I just wanted to share

(also love my game model after it scanned me LOL it's like me if I was a pixar character )

You forgot to mention which clip (as in mount, right?) it is. You're right, Microsoft should have just included one or just made the bottom of Kinect 2 have a built in mount. I bought one not long after launch too, although I've forgotten the make of mine. In fact I bought one for Kinect 1 at the same time to replace my homemade one. I'd advise people not to have the top of the TV be over 6ft though if they're going to use a TV mount. (Or not to mount it over 6ft if they're using a wall mount.)

Weird, links should work. I'll try to post one.

Oh, OK. Weird. Undecided Maybe it only lets you after a certain number of posts, although I can't see anything in the rules or help that says anything like that.
