Following the Kinect Effect ad from before, and the Kinect augmented reality video, Microsoft Research (MSR) team posted a number of great stories about their contributions to Kinect meshed together in a video. As explained in this video, Kinect builds on three technical pillars of research:

  1. audio & voice recognition
  2. identity recognition
  3. human body tracking
Should you be interested to know more about one of these pillars, then I highly recommend you read the individual articles on the MS Research website, as they are very informative.
