Independent VR developer Xreal Games has updated its popular and critically acclaimed DOOM-like sci-fi FPS, A-Tech Cybernetic VR, with official Windows Mixed Reality support. Many have said that it’s even better than DOOM VFR! A-Tech Cybernetic VR is currently in Early Access and if you want to buy the game now it’s available to download from Steam priced at £16.90 (UK) / €19.99 (EU) / $19.99 (US).

A-Tech Cybernetic VR

ABOUT THIS GAME

A-Tech Cybernetic is a first-person shooter built from the ground up for VR. It features two separate game modes: a classic swarm mode to put your shooting and survival skills to the test and a story mode that takes you to a futuristic biomedical company overrun by mutants. Control everything with real-life movements, interact with your surroundings as if they were actually there, experience a new kind of gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before, thanks to VR. Be the badass guy you always wanted to be.

Co-op gameplay will also be available in the final, fully released version.

STORY MODE – DIVE INTO AN IMMERSIVE SCI-FI ADVENTURE

Waking up with no memories, but with new superpowers, you find yourself in a biomedical company overrun by hordes of mutants. Who are you? What are you doing there? What are these mutants? Explore a futuristic company complex, handle and aim your weapons with real-life movements, use superhuman powers to survive and find all the answers yourself while going through an immersive sci-fi adventure.

SWARM MODE – STOP THE MUTANT HORDES AND SURVIVE

Can you stop all the mutant hordes that will come to get you? Will you be the last man standing? Put your shooting skills to the test and make sure you’re the only one that survives. But be aware: they may come from places you’d never expect them!

REAL LIFE COMBAT SYSTEM – USE YOUR BODY TO FIGHT

Handle and aim your weapons with real-life movements, use various melee weapons, throw grenades at your enemies, dodge melee attacks or if all else fails, use your fists to buy some time or get some advantage in combat. Now is the time to test your combat skills.

USE AND DEVELOP YOUR SUPERHUMAN POWERS

While you can also use locomotion in A-Tech Cybernetic, teleporting is the fastest way to get from one place to another. But gaining VR superpowers doesn’t stop here! Move objects with your mind – pull them by force for your convenience or push them away like a jedi. And if you feel cornered or really just want to have some extra fun, slow down the flow of time and take out those bloody mutants one-by-one. There’s no rush, really, it’s just a horde of flesh-eating mutant monsters that are out there to get you, so feel free to take your time…well…at least as long as your bullet time ability lasts. After that – how should I put it – RUN! or rather use teleport as we don’t want you to actually hurt yourself or run into your room furniture – VR is just so freakin’ awesome!
Oh, and here comes the best part: your newly acquired superhuman powers will develop as you use them, making you a total badass mutant annihilator over time – just sayin’

EXPLORE A VISUALLY STUNNING ENVIRONMENT

We find it extremely important to provide the player a close to realistic environment to maximize the VR experience. In A-Tech Cybernetic you will really feel that you entered an alternate reality where everything seems and feels so real. It takes immersion to another level.

Have fun and don’t ever forget: all mutants must die!

Update v0.13.2 – WMR Support!

18 April – A-Tech Cybernetic VR

– Disclaimer: Please note that you SHOULD NOT ALTER Windows Mixed Reality config files (e.g. default.vrsettings) because if you do and move with that configuration the game might break logically. –

Hi,

It is here at last! After a long struggle with the sad state of the European VR economy and our local customs department we’ve finally been able to get our hands on a WMR headset. A quick (and painful) engine upgrade later we can now say that our game officially supports WMR headsets.

We’ve also fixed our latest update (v0.13.1) so you can also enjoy those features bug-free.

Unfortunately we have a second disclaimer that will hopefully be irrelevant to everyone but the most eagle-eyed of our players: The new Unreal Engine version is a mess. Like really-really frustratingly messy. Upgrading to it broke a LOT of things in the game, most of which are already fixed but there are a few graphical issues (these will require 1-2 weeks of our time and we didn’t want to delay WMR support any more because of a few minor visual imperfections) and there could be some bugs that eluded our testing. We’re trying to fix every issue in the shortest time possible, but we must ask for a little patience.

Known issues:

  • Game is not that beautiful as it was and will be 2 weeks from now 🙂
  • Some lights are 90 degree broken
  • Ammo pickups 90 degree broken
  • Enemy gun handling 90 degree bug
  • Landscape weird LOD near the end of Ch3

Thank you for your continuous support,
XReal Games
