Kinect is doing absolutely great in North America and Europe. With over 8 million sensors sold in the first 60 days it hit the market it even holds the title of fastest selling consumer electronic device. Still the Kinect sensor is selling extremely poor in Japan, land of technology but also land of the very small living rooms. This new development might make Kinect popular in Japan after all!
Arcade Kinect
Japan is crazy about it’s arcades, and with that I do not mean Xbox Live Arcade, but the actual arcades. You know, big dark busy hallways that feature an overflow of single game machines. It looks like that the savior of Kinect to Japan will be an arcade device that works by using a Kinect sensor. The above image shows a game called DanceEvolution Arcade (which is most likely an arcade version of DanceMasters).
This is a good move by Konami because this might get Japan totally excited for Kinect, and maybe they will start buying Xbox’s en Kinect sensors too now (and with that probably rearrange their living rooms)
