To aid those who don’t believe a (Kinect) racing game can or should be played without a controller or steering wheel, Xbox is launching its Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel which can be used with any racing game. And guess what, the release is planned for autumn, just in time for Forza Motorsport 4!

A Speed Wheel for Forza Motorsport 4

According to the press release, the Wireless Speed Wheel

is completely wireless and controlled intuitively with precise steering, standard controller buttons/triggers, and haptic feedback with rumble.

This device combines a fun and immersive driving experience with the biggest racing game of the year, the best rated “Forza Motorsport”.

The device has trigger buttons for gas and break, rumble feedback and green lights at the end of each handle to provide visual cues. Furthermore, the speed wheel

balances the realism of a wheel with the feel of a controller for greater user edge in game play

The Xbox 360 Speed Wheel will be available starting with 26th September for $59.99.

The interesting thing about this device is that it’s basically bringing a controller into the Kinect world which, I must say, defeats the idea of control-free gaming. Would you buy it to play Forza Motorsport 4 for Kinect?
