Best Kinect games

This list of best Kinect games of 2010 has been compiled by the crew of 123Kinect.com. On numerous occasions we came together and tested the Kinect games that were available to us. Testing occurred in our official testing studio (which is actually just one of the crew’s living rooms :p) which features plenty of space, a gigantic tv, 5.1 surround sound and of course the new shiny black xbox equipped with Kinect. The following games were picked as the absolute best Kinect games of 2010.

1. Kinect sports

Best Kinect game: Kinect Sports

Probably no surprise here, but Kinect Sports is our absolute best Kinect game of 2010. With its ton of game modes Kinect Sports just keeps on entertaining us, and with the recent release of the free DLC it now even has more of the good stuff. The game is just insanely fun to play with a couple of friends and because of the competitive factor it never gets old.

2. Dance Central

Best Kinect game: Dance Central

Dance Central was the biggest surprise of the year to us. I personally thought the game would not appeal to me at all, because I don’t really like dancing (also probably because I suck at it Editors pick: the 5 best Kinect games of 2010 special ), but I guess this game did the impossible for me: I started to like to dance! So why did we pick this game as the second best Kinect game of 2010?

Well first of all the ability of this game to teach you how to dance is amazing, I’m pretty sure that Dance Central can teach anyone how to dance, and more importantly: make you want to learn how to dance! Because the second thing is why we picked Dance Central as one of the best Kinect games is because it is just so much fun! The 123Kinect.com crew has been playing this together and it’s a serious blast. Because of the competitiveness it makes you want to improve more and more and finally nailing that hard song just gives an insanely good feeling.

3. Your Shape: Fitness evolved

Editors pick: the 5 best Kinect games of 2010 special

Best Kinect game: Your Shape Fitness Evolved

Your Shape: Fitness evolved is not really game, but more training program that will help you to lose weight and get in shape. We picked this game as our 3rd best Kinect game because of its incredible use of the Kinect technology. Your shape will scan your body and will keep track of your movement with pinpoint accuracy, really impressive! Also two of the three members of the 123Kinect.com crew have gym memberships, and both decided that Your Shape is about a 100 times more fun than going to the gym, and it’s a whole lot cheaper too.

4. Kinect Adventures

Best Kinect game: Kinect Adventures

Kinect Adventures: the game that everyone has because it comes with the Kinect sensor. Although it’s a free game and its primary intentions are to get you ‘hungry’ for more, this is still a very good game. The 123Kinect.com crew especially likes Reflex Ridge and has spent countless hours trying to beat each other’s scores. The game doesn’t have so many modes as Kinect sports but nonetheless stays fun for a good while and makes excellent use of the Kinect technology. For that it gets a spot in our top 5 of best Kinect games of 2010!

5. Sonic Free Riders

Editors pick: the 5 best Kinect games of 2010 special

Best Kinect game: Sonic Free Riders

Sonic free riders almost didn’t make it into our list of best Kinect games, but due to perseverance of the 123Kinect.com crew it got a spot on number 5. Why because of perseverance? Well Sonic Free Riders has a bit of steep learning curve and does not always explain very well how the game should be played. The first hours that we played Sonic Free Rides were a bit frustrating, as our character were often not doing what we wanted them to do. But once you get the controls down you are left with a very fun game. You’ll find yourself in perfect control of Sonic and his friends and will love the fast action packed nature of this game.
