Blue Estate: The First 20 Minutes

Blue Estate, the fully Kinect 2 supported darkly funny rail shooter for Xbox One, is less than 2 weeks away and the (unofficial) Xbox One UK website managed to get their hands on the game early and have uploaded a video of the first 20 minutes, which you can watch above. According to them it’s “impressive, sexy and funny” and judging by what I’ve seen of it so far I think it should appeal to all fans of arcade lightgun games such as the Virtua Cop, House Of The Dead and Time Crisis franchises.

Unfortunately the player in the video was using the optional joypad controls, but Blue Estate was designed to be played totally with Kinect 2. You aim & shoot with one hand and perform all the gestures with the other. As you can see in the video, one nice touch is that instead of shooting the various collectable items in the game such as guns, ammo and bonuses, like you do in most lightgun-style games, you actually pick them up with your gesture hand.

Blue Estate is an ID@Xbox game that will be available to download on Xbox Live for Xbox One on February 18th for £10.39 / €12.99 / $12.99 with 20% off for Xbox Live Gold members and I’m really looking forward to it since I’m a fan of lightgun-style games, which the Xbox One is currently sadly lacking except for the Target Shooting events in Kinect Sports Rivals. Are you a fan of those games and planning on getting Blue Estate too?  Let us know in the comments below.
