Beyoncé and Gate Five, a New York based game developer, cooperated to create a Kinect (Move and Wii as well) dancing game called Starpower: Beyonce that would allow players to sing and dance along to her well known songs such as Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It). Unfortunately Beyoncé has quit the project abruptly and the game was cancelled.
The project started in June of 2010 and after six month of development, the superstar made “an extortionate demand” for more money, even though the two sides already had a deal. Greg Easley the founder of Gate five LLC, launched a lawsuit of $107 million dollars against the singer. The developer, who invested $7 million dollars, is claiming that Beyoncé destroyed their business and caused the layoff of 70 employees just one week before Christmas.
I think we are not going to see a game featuring Beyoncé before long time!
Check this video showing a 3D motion capture she did for the game:
Do you think this game would have been successful, considering the dancing and fitness games already released? Please find these games in our Kinect games list.
