Cabela's Hunting game coming to Kinect - will include new peripheral
Activision announced their plans for the 2nd half of 2011 regarding licensed IP's and while doing so dropped a comment about a future Kinect game. Eric Hirshberg, Publishing CEO of Activision, said they were planning on releasing another 007 game, as well a new X-men game, a Spiderman game and a game based on Bukagan. More interestingly he also said something about their Cabela's Hunting franchise and the inclusion of Kinect features! More specifically he said:
For the balance of the year, we plan to launch games based on the best-selling X-Men and Spider-Man franchises, James Bond and the toy phenomenon Bakugan as well as the latest release in the long-standing Cabela’s Hunting franchise, which we’re expanding this year to include new peripherals and an incredible Kinect experience.
Cabela's Hunting Kinect with new peripheral
The Cabela's Hunting franchise recently showed itself on the Xbox in the form of Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011. The fun thing about this game is that it can be played with a shotgun peripheral that allows the player not only to aim and shoot, but also has full movement controls build in.

So apparently Activision wants to either re-release this game with Kinect support, or will create a new game based on the franchise with Kinect support. I'm not sure what would be the added value of having this Kinect support, since the game should really be played with the peripheral gun but maybe it's one of these things:

The current gun works with a Wii like sensor bar, a new gun that would work with Kinect could be far cheaper
Kinect will allow you to play the game with motion controls but without buying the gun at all (but then how will movements be done?)
The game might feature the till now unseen object scanning feature of Kinect, and you'll be able to bring your own gun into the game

Since Eric Hirshberg is also talking about the inclusion of 'new peripherals' I would actually expect option 1, where a less expensive gun will make use of the Kinect sensor.

We'll have to wait for the official announcement of the game to find out more about it. Until then we can only speculate about it.

What do you think this hunting game will be, and how do you think it will utilize Kinect?
