Harmonix deal done.
In case anyone didn't know, the Harmonix deal is done. They are going independent with a private investment firm backing them. I think this is awesome news as they don't have a big brother they have to worry about. I think we are going to start seeing some music in these games we all want. JohnD also confirmed upcoming projects...we know one of them is DC2, but I can only imagine what they are planning Smile

Pearl Jam:LIVE is also one of them. PJ teamed up with HMX to release an all live disc of their greatest hits.

Hopefully Harmonix will generate some value (in terms of money) then... because I believe they were losing money Sad.

RE: Harmonix deal done.
That could very well be true. I'm sure all the licensing fees are beginning to stack up. Luckily it seems Dance Central sold a ton for them.

It's a funny look inside the business world to see that Columbus Nova technically bought the company for $49.99. Granted they assume all of the debt and liabilities along with the company, and Viacom gets a monster tax break.

$50 - LOL, too bad for Harmonix. I don't see them making a lot of money then, if they're being sold for that much. Hopefully Viacom can revive the compnay that has quite a lot of talent, just not in the marketing department (alienating their customers with 6 Guitar Heroes and Rock Bands every year... gosh).

You can blame all the Guitar Heros on Activision. Harmonix started GH, but sold it to Activison shortly after GH2 came out. This whole music game thing was started by Harmonix.

Yup back in the day they worked with Konami and made all of the Karaoke Revolution titles for regular xbox and ps2 so they pretty much started the whole music genre...I loved those games Tongue
