A while ago we reported that Kinect is officially coming to Windows. Unfortunately a release date for Kinect on Windows was not given, and we could only speculate about its time of arrival. But now a rumor has shown up that Microsoft is already preparing the official Kinect for Windows drivers and an actual SDK (Software Development Kit). Read on for more information.
Kinect for Windows SDK
So what does it mean that a Windows Kinect SDK (Software Development Kit) is already being prepared? Well the SDK will provide third party game and software developers with all the tools to make software for Kinect on Windows. So this means that Microsoft will probably release this SDK pretty soon and people will be able to start creating games for Kinect on Windows!
Kinect and XNA
Even greater is the rumor that this SDK will actually be included in the next release of XNA, which is free to download and allows everyone with a bit of programming knowledge to create games for both Windows and Xbox. That's right, for windows and Xbox! So if this is true then everyone will be able to start creating Xbox Live Arcade Kinect games! Exciting news isn't it?
