Microsoft is using its time at GITEX Shopper 2010, Dubai to promote its forthcoming ‘Kinect’ motion tracking system.
“Kinect is Easy to use and Instantly fun!”
When asked about Kinect specifically Armagan Demir, Head of Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Gulf explains, “It is easy-to-use and instantly fun. The Kinect sensor uses revolutionary full-body tracking to put you in the centre of the fun. This amazing new piece of technology allows the sensor to recognise your body and mirror your movements in the game, making you the controller. Some key features include, controlling your Xbox 360 with a single gesture or wave of the hand, getting off the couch and into the game by using your body as the controller, connecting with friends and family with easy and interactive gameplay.”
Game developers are already working on a variety of Kinect compatible titles, with a number scheduled to launch alongside the device, when it goes on sale in November. When asked about Microsoft’s take on the UAE Demir responds, “The UAE was the first country in the Middle East in which Xbox 360 was launched officially and represents a great investment opportunity for Microsoft E&D and we remain strongly committed to this region. Our aim is to offer regional consumers new and compelling branded entertainment experiences across music, gaming, video and mobile communications and bringing those solutions to market with retailers and partners.”
