If you’re a Halo fan, you’ll probably be picking up the HD remake of Halo: Combat Evolved next week, 10 years to the day after the US launch of the Xbox. If you’re a Halo and Kinect fan, you’ll probably be excited about the Kinect features; both voice and gesture control can be used in the game. However, a word of warning for you, that this Halo won’t be packaged in the purple box, nor will it behold a purple banner. In fact, the only way you can tell it has anything to do with Kinect is from the game’s manual. You might think that this is bad news, but in fact it all has to do with quality. Read on for more info!

Halo Anniversary and Kinect

The manual mentions that the features are not on the disc, but instead, will auto-download from Xbox Live on November 15th, when the user plays the disc. Why, you ask. Because of 343′s attention to quality – they wanted to make it a great experience. A spokesperson for 343 Industries told Kotaku:

The Kinect features in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary are something we have been working on for some time. We wanted to ensure it was a great experience, we chose not to rush things for the retail release and instead focus on a quality update timed for launch day. Because the Kinect features require users have access to Xbox Live, it’s not something we could advertise on the box as shipping with the game.

So it’s not bad news after all, and it’s still nice to see Kinect featuring on one of Microsoft’s legendary games. The Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition is out world-wide November 15th, and if you can’t wait until Tuesday, here’s the launch trailer.
