Yesterday a massive document leaked (the source unfortunately went dead) that indicated Microsoft’s vision about the future of Xbox, Kinect and the way we play games. The document counts a whopping 56 pages and was written in August 2010. Because this is a pretty old document and ‘just’ a vision, it might not represent what Microsoft is actually working on, but it does give a good indication of what Microsoft is aiming for.
The document outlines specs for the Xbox 720, Kinect 2 and something called “Kinect Glass“. Read on to find out what the document specifically says!
Microsoft’s vision document from 2010 indicates the Xbox 720 as the centerpiece of entertainment with heaps of connectivity options and modern graphical output like 1080p and 3D. The Xbox 720 would get stuff like:
- 1080p in 3D
- Windows 8 platform
- CPU: 6 to 8 cores @ 2GHz
- GPU: 2 cores and 64 alu’s @ 500MHz
- Memory: 4GB ddr4
- Input/output: USB 3.0, Displayport, HDMI, Gigabit ethernet, Wimax and HSDPA
Kinect is also mentioned in the document, and the next-generation motion detection sensor is supposed to become much more accurate and get support for accurate tracking of four players (possibly via two sensors). Kinect should also get the option to work with other accessories and something that is called “Kinect Glass”. Kinect Glass will be something like the Google Glass and should provide augmented reality via wifi or 4g.
So what do you guys think? Could this be really the future of Xbox?
