I got the Gears Of Wars 3 Epic Collectors Edition. I haven't played it yet though, just because I haven't been able to play any games for a while and also I need to finish GOW2, I think I was on the last level when I last played it.

Yeah, that's the one! It's got loads of other stuff too and extra DLC I think, I haven't got around to looking through all of it properly yet.

I got some crazy deals at best buy, not game related, but they are offering for black friday a $1000 netbook and laptop each for $150 and $180. Man I spoil my kids I did pick up the xbox holiday bundle as well for $200, figured it was time I get a new one, I have one of the first ones that's been repaired from RRoD 5 times LOL - that ones going to the kids, new one for me

I also upgraded my to a xbox elite not long ago and i have never had any problems with it. The day halo3 cames out I bought the game then right away beat it on legendary solo single player.

then after beating the game i go online and BAM red rings of death, xbox is fried and my halo days ended there.

You must have been unlucky as the Elites are supposed to be pretty stable aren't they? I know the new Slims don't have the same problem as the orginal Xbox 360s because they have been internally redesigned, not just externally, and have the CPU & GPU combined on the same chip. Obviously they could still break down but just like any device could break down, not in the same way as the originals. My 2nd Xbox 360 has always worked fine (fingers crossed, lol!) and my 1st worked fine too it's just that I bought it at launch so it didn't have HDMI then a couple of years later after I got my HDTV I bought Resident Evil (the movie) and Resident Evil: Apocalypse on HD DVD but they wrongfully included special protection software (forgotten what it's called) that reduced the resolution to 480P if you didn't use HDMI (on all other discs you can run HD DVD at 1080P using the VGA cable) and it was too much hassle to get replacement discs from Germany so I just bought a newer HDMI Xbox 360 and sold my old one.

it's not a matter of elite versus arcade units. 360s have been rock solid since the Jasper CPU/motherboard revision which was released in 2009. I wouldn't get a 360 before Jasper. And the newer slims even became more reliable and use less power. The first set of 360S devices were the "Trinity" revision. And the newest slims that just came out are the "Corona" revision.
