Information Microsoft Looking For Producers For Xbox 360 & Next Gen Exclusives
I thought I'd post this in the Kinect forum too as it's relevant. Microsoft are developing new exclusive core IPs for the Xbox 360 and the next-gen Xbox and are looking for producers to work on them. I presume this will include new Kinect IPs too. (The article does mention they are looking for a new producer for Ryse, although we already knew that since one of them left to join a new company. Having said that, this producer is going to work for Microsoft rather than Crytek.) Here's a brief quote from the job advert and a link to the original article:

Quote:The success of Xbox has been built upon the portfolio of core games from Microsoft Studios. The Core Games Publishing team’s charter is to partner with the best developers in the world to create the next great core franchises for this generation and future generations of Xbox.

There's also job advert for Rare to work on their new game mentioned in that article. Although it's not for a producer or designer or programmer or anything like that, it's for a "lead cloud engineer", which is to do with servers not white fluffy things in the sky, lol! It doesn't say what the new game is and it's hard to tell whether it's Kinect Sports 3 or an entirely new game since it does mention both Kinect Sports games but it could simply be mentioning them just to point out that Rare made them.

Quote:Following on from the success of ‘Kinect Sports’ and its recent sequel ‘Kinect Sports: Season Two’, Rare is continuing to push the boundaries of the Kinect hardware with our exciting new project. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate server engineer to join us on this journey.

Another job ad for Rare's new game. Here's an encouraging quote from it:

Quote:Based at our custom built Twycross site, this role will involve you working within the UI engineering team to produce a cutting edge extensible user interface solution which expands the boundaries of what is possible with Kinect. As part of your role, you will also be required to work closely with Artists, Designers and Program Managers to ensure the game interface is as intuitive as it is beautiful.

A job ad (not for Rare but it doesn't specify which team) for a senior designer for what I presume include Kinect games due to the mention of Kinect in the 2nd quote I'll post:

Quote:Microsoft Studios is looking for a talented, motivated and experienced senior designer with proven leadership ability to work with external developers on Microsoft’s core titles, including shooters, RPGs, action/adventure, etc.
Quote:Qualified individuals are expected to be organized, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a proven track record in AAA game design. Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills along with positive creative energy are also important components of a strong candidate. Applicants must have a clear understanding and experience creating mission/environment design, AI, combat, strategy, game-flow, and balance. Candidates must be well versed in market trends and styles. Kinect experience is a plus.

Anybody fancy testing a prototype of the next-gen Xbox? Big GrinThis job ad definitely looks like it's for the next-gen Xbox (notice they just use the name "Xbox" when talking about the product whereas they use the name "Xbox 360" earlier in the ad when they're talking about the Xbox 360), but you'll need the right qualifactions for the job:

Quote:Key Success Factors include:
- BSEE required. MS preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience design and test related to technology products.
- Project management skills. Will take ownership of assigned platforms and/or subsystems, and be responsible for test deliverables and schedules. Hands-on experience in designing and testing modern electronics hardware at component, motherboard, and system levels
- Experience in high volume, consumer electronic development and manufacturing
- Experience with testing and validating operation of control buses such as I2C
- Experience in high speed circuits and signal integrity measurements
- Experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, failure analysis, and yield improvement.
- Experience with firmware/software development and testing a huge plus
- Experience with at least one scripting language
- Experience with statistical analysis and DOE is desired

Now Lionhead are at it with a job ad for a lead engine programmer for what appears to be a game for the next-gen Xbox as the job ad suggests that it uses DirectX 11 and the Xbox 360 doesn't support DirectX 11. Also if this is a next-gen game I doubt it's the game they're going to reveal at the GDC since Microsoft haven't even confirmed the existence of the next-gen Xbox yet so they're not going to reveal any games for it, lol! (Unless they're going to reveal the next-gen Xbox at the GDC?!)

Quote:Lionhead Studios is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engine Programmer to be a key contributor on an unannounced title. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about games (and game development) and has significant experience leading teams designing and implementing modern rendering engines (DX11). The role will initially focus on working with the Art department and the Technical Director in order to define the rendering requirements for the game and helping to build and nurture an engine team to implement them in the context of an existing codebase. It will then focus on ensuring performance and rendering quality requirements are met.

The article I saw about it:
