This is NOT a hack: WorldWide Telescope with Kinect SDK
So MIX11 started off yesterday (you know, the Microsoft developers conference) and something cool was showcased there: WorldWide Telescope (a microsoft star navigation program) controlled by Kinect that was not made possible with hacked drivers. In other words: this program was made using the official Microsoft Kinect SDK! More details after the jump!
WorldWide Telescope and the Kinect SDK We talked before about the official Kinect SDK and we knew it was coming, but so far we hadn't really seen it working, we didn't even know it was close to completion! But it's real and it's working! MIX11 featured Microsoft's galaxy navigating software operable with Kinect, and powered with the Kinect SDK. See below for a (rather dark) video of the whole thing in action! So what does this mean? Well the official Kinect SDK must be very close to completion (in fact, some sources are saying it might actually release in beta form very, very soon). So for everyone that can't wait to get their hands dirty with the Kinect SDK...the wait is probably almost over! Anyone here that is going to give the official Kinect SDK a try once it's out?
